Help with SENSE.

A multisensory observation instrument for iPhone.

Currently in TestFlight beta. Features vary with your installed build and available hardware. SENSE records observations and measurements; it does not identify ghosts or determine what caused a change.

For a fault, include your iPhone model, iOS version, SENSE version/build, the tool you were using and what happened. Please do not send passwords, invitation codes or private recordings. If a screenshot is useful, remove personal details first. You can also send feedback through TestFlight.

Common questions

The camera is black or unavailable

Check Settings → Apps → SENSE → Camera (or find SENSE directly in Settings on an older iOS version). Make sure the lens is uncovered and try an ordinary lit scene. Finish any active recording before changing tools. If the preview does not return, reopen SENSE and contact support with the affected mode. Do not delete the app as a first troubleshooting step: that can remove local observations.

How do I know a recording saved?

Stop the recording and wait for confirmation, then open Events and check that the original plays. A starting or finalising message is not a saved-recording confirmation. If SENSE reports a failure or missing file, keep the app and its data in place and contact support. Do not assume that a displayed timer proves the file was saved.

What does Low Light do?

Low Light adjusts supported camera exposure controls. Handheld favours movement; Steady allows a longer exposure budget for a fixed phone and can reduce the video frame rate. Newer beta builds also offer opt-in Auto. Actual exposure depends on the camera and scene. Longer exposure can blur motion. SENSE still needs visible light: it is not thermal, infrared or vision in complete darkness. Torch and flash are user choices.

What does Monitor do?

The current Auto Photo tool saves a photo when image change crosses the selected threshold. Keep the phone secure and SENSE open in the foreground. Sessions are bounded to 30 minutes and stop when the app becomes inactive. Phone movement and lighting changes can activate the rule. It is not person, animal or paranormal recognition, and it does not provide sound-triggered video or pre-event video.

Why is LiDAR missing on my iPhone?

Rear LiDAR requires a real supported rear depth source. A standard iPhone 13 has no rear LiDAR. Front TrueDepth is a separate, front-facing source, not a replacement for rear LiDAR. Newer builds hide live Depth when no source is available and keep saved readings accessible. Depth colours mean distance in metres, never temperature. Depth precision and performance remain under beta validation.

Is Dual Capture or the Apple Watch remote available?

Live Dual Capture is still under development and is not enabled in the current public beta. Existing grouped recordings can be reviewed where present. The Apple Watch remote is not included in the shipping iPhone beta. Do not buy additional hardware specifically for an unannounced SENSE feature.

How do I export or delete a capture?

Open its Events detail and choose Share original + report. Review everything before sharing; original pictures and sound may identify people or locations even when place context is omitted from the report. In builds with Storage, Move to Recently Deleted keeps the capture recoverable. Events → Storage lets you restore or permanently delete it. Recently Deleted continues to use storage. Previously exported copies are unaffected.

Where are my observations stored?

In the app's local storage. Your iPhone backup settings may include them. Depth readings and place images are separate from capture storage. Delete App removes local app data; Offload App preserves documents. Manage exported copies and backups separately. Read the privacy policy for details.

What do the sensor readings mean?

Measurements identify their source and units. Magnetic field is not broadband EMF or radio-frequency detection. Phone-motion readings include movement of the phone. Pressure comes from the phone's barometer where available. Selected sensor samples are approximately aligned with a movie, not frame-exact. These are observation tools, not calibrated safety instruments or a conclusion about a cause.

Before an investigation

Check a short recording and playback first, leave storage available and keep the phone ventilated. Record only where you have permission. Keep torch or flash away from eyes and do not depend on SENSE for navigation or personal safety.
