1. Keep the books with energy
Scan the list quickly. Keep anything you would still be pleased to begin tonight. Do not defend an old choice simply because it has been waiting a long time.
2. Make a “not now” shelf
Move books that still interest you—but not this season—out of the active queue. They are not rejected; they are simply no longer competing for your next decision.
3. Choose three different doors
- One book that feels easy to enter.
- One that makes you curious.
- One that suits the time and attention you actually have.
Your calm TBR check
- Would I be happy to start this now?
- Does this still fit my interests?
- Am I keeping it from desire or guilt?
- Can it safely move to “not now”?
4. Let the next book be enough
You do not need to solve the whole list. Pick one next read and let the rest become quiet background again.
